MWC 2014 : 64-bit CPU Marvell Armada PXA1928 mobile

Company Marvell today unveiled at the closing exhibition Mobile World Congress (MWC 2014) its first 64-bit processor for portable devices – a “system on a chip» Armada Mobile PXA1928.

Chip integrates four cores ARM Cortex-A53 processor with a clock speed of 1.5 GHz and a graphics accelerator Vivante GC5000. Officially supports displays with resolutions up to 1920×1080 pixels (Full HD) and the ability to encode and playback 1080p-video.

Chip provides support for mobile LTE TDD / FDD Cat 4 (up to 150 Mbit / s), WCDMA HSPA + (up to 21 Mbit / s) and TD-SCDMA HSPA + (up to 4.2 Mbit / s).

Marvell Armada PXA1928-2

The composition includes a processor unit Avastar 88W8887, implements support for wireless networking Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0, as well as NFC and FM-radio. Responsible for navigation capabilities module 88L2000 GNSS Hybrid Location Processor.

Armada Mobile PXA1928 platform enables the use of memory LPDDR2/3-SDRAM, DDR3 / L, NAND and eMMC. Guaranteed compatibility with operating systems Android and Linux.

It is expected that the processor will be used in smartphones, tablets and other gadgets. Deliveries study samples will begin in March, the first device based on the Armada Mobile PXA1928, is expected to appear this year.
