Google today held its Made by Google '22 showcase, showing off its new flagship smartphones, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, as well as its debut smartwatch, the Pixel Watch. The latest novelty has a unique design and wide functionality.
Pixel Watch is made in a fairly compact 41 mm stainless steel case and Gorilla Glass 5. The novelty is equipped with a round AMOLED screen with a pixel density of 320 ppi and a brightness of up to 1000 cd/m 2 . Notably, Google doesn't specify screen sizes. It is noted that it supports the Always-On function.
The Pixel Watch is based on the Exynos 9110 single-chip platform, which is complemented by a Cortex M33-based coprocessor responsible for efficient standby power consumption. As planned, this should extend battery life, but at the same time provide smooth operation and high performance when required. Also, the clock has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of permanent memory. Inside there is an NFC module for contactless payment.
A 294 mAh battery is responsible for battery life, which provides 24 hours of operation without recharging. Fast charging is also supported: 50% is replenished in just 30 minutes, and 100% in 80 minutes. Wireless charging with magnetic mount - the appropriate cable with charging and USB Type-C connector is included.
The manufacturer notes the wide possibilities of the watch for monitoring body parameters and the user's physical activity using a heart rate sensor, blood oxygen levels and others. There are a lot of functions for training, and users get detailed statistics on all the measurements that the watch will take. This is due to the fact that Google previously bought Fitbit, whose products are famous for their fitness and health tracking capabilities. By the way, it also supports the detection of a user's fall and automatic emergency calls.
The Pixel Watch uses Google Wear OS 3.5 as its software platform. Thus, this is a kind of reference watch with this platform, which other manufacturers can be equal to. It is worth noting a lot of different watch faces, as well as many useful functions and applications like Maps, Wallet and Google Assistant voice assistant.
The watch will be sold in three colors: black, silver and gold. Google has promised a huge selection of straps that allow you to give the watch a more classic, or vice versa, a more youthful look.
Smart watch Google Pixel Watch is available in two versions. The Wi-Fi-only model will cost $349.99, while the cellular version is priced at $399.99. Pre-orders are being accepted from today. Deliveries will begin on October 13th. Along with the watch, the user will receive three months of YouTube Premium subscription and six months of Fitbit Premium.
